Details

Flammen & Citronen (2008) is a gripping World War II thriller set during the Nazi occupation of Denmark. The film follows Bent Faurschou-Hviid, codenamed Flame, and Jørgen Haagen Schmith, codenamed Citron, who are ruthless assassins in the Danish resistance. They receive orders from Winther, a mysterious figure in direct contact with Allied leaders.

Bent is the shooter, while Jørgen is the skilled driver. At first, they only target Danish collaborators, but in 1944, Winther orders them to kill Germans. As the stakes rise, doubts start to cloud Bent's mind when a target reveals that Winther may have personal motives behind the killings.

Adding to the suspense, Bent develops a relationship with Kitty Selmer, a mysterious woman who may be working as a double agent. As the trust within their circle is tested, the two assassins must navigate the treacherous world of espionage and betrayal.

Throughout the film, the question of whether their actions are driven by heroism, naiveté, or mere hatred lingers. Can Bent and Jørgen successfully eliminate a high-profile target, evade capture, and ultimately survive the war?

Flammen & Citronen (2008) is a captivating and thought-provoking exploration of morality and loyalty set against the backdrop of a war-torn Denmark.
