In the movie County Line, Alden Rockwell, a tough and dedicated Marine veteran, loses his bid for re-election as sheriff of Maksville County. With no other options, he settles into retirement, accepting that his protégé, the smooth-talking Preston, has taken his place. However, Alden's grief over his wife's recent death and his daughter Ember's impending military deployment still weigh heavily on him.

Alden's good friend, Sheriff Clint Thorne, is re-elected in the neighboring York County. The two have a long history, having grown up in their respective counties and served together in Vietnam. When Clint investigates a mysterious symbol appearing in York County, he inadvertently gets too close to the truth and ends up getting shot.

Clint's wife pleads with Alden to find out the truth behind Clint's shooting, and Alden starts digging deeper. As he searches for answers, he uncovers a web of crime, corruption, and evil threatening to take over the town. As the only person who can untangle this web, Alden is faced with dangerous adversaries who will stop at nothing to protect their secrets.
