In the midst of the breakout of war, a young student named Lyudmila Pavlichenko finds her world shattered and is compelled to join the army in 1941. To her surprise, she discovers that she is a natural-born sniper, with impressive skill and prowess that make her stand out among both men and women. Recognizing her as a significant threat, the German High Command issues orders to eliminate her at all costs.

Amidst the chaos of war, Lyudmila finds love with a man. Their relationship offers respite from the horrors surrounding them.
