Seeking a new perspective, Don leaves his conservative Texas hometown for the liberal environment of Reed College in the Northwest, as suggested by his secular father.
However, upon arriving at Reed College, Don is confronted with a campus culture that is fiercely anti-religious and anti-everything he was raised to believe. Determined to fit in and discover his own identity, Don decides to join an activist group. This decision leads him on a path of self-discovery, as he is forced to question his own beliefs and confront the contradictions between his upbringing and the ideas he encounters at college.
