In the gritty crime drama Gjengangere (2017), viewers are drawn into the complex world of occupational criminals confined in a prison. Among the inmates, three dominant groups exist - Albanians, Pakistanis, and Norwegians. The protagonist, Josef (played by Leon Bashir), finds himself serving time alongside a motley crew of thugs.
However, the narrative takes an unexpected turn when a new inmate, Chris (Selem Zina), struggles to navigate the perilous dynamics within the prison walls. Sensing vulnerability in Chris, Josef assumes the role of mentor and protector, offering his support and guidance.
Throughout the film, tensions between the various factions reach a boiling point, as power struggles and intergroup rivalries escalate. Josef's loyalty to Chris is tested, forcing him to make difficult choices that could have far-reaching consequences for both of them.
With its realistic portrayal of life behind bars and the intricacies of criminal hierarchies, Gjengangere delves into themes of loyalty, survival, and friendship in a brutal and unforgiving environment. As the story unfolds, viewers are left on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the outcome of this high-stakes battle for dominance. Brace yourself for a thrilling cinematic experience that explores the complex dynamics of life in prison and the lengths one will go to protect those they care about.
