Details

In the comedic sci-fi film Idiocracy (2006), Officer Collins leads an experimental project called the Human Hibernation Project, aiming to store subjects indefinitely until they are needed. Joe Bauers, an average guy from the armed services, becomes the first test subject. However, a scandal follows as the experiment goes wrong, the base is shut down, and the president denies any knowledge of the project. Instead of waking up after a year, Joe wakes up 500 years later, only to discover a world where human evolution has taken a drastic downturn.

To his surprise, Joe finds that he is now the smartest person in the world by taking an IQ test assigned to him in prison. He is offered a presidential pardon if he can solve a significant issue - the diminishing plant population. Racing against time, Joe tries to tackle this problem, unknowingly alienating half the country in the process. As he tries to rectify his mistakes, he must also avoid a bizarre execution.

Idiocracy is a humorous and satirical take on a dystopian future where intelligence and common sense are in short supply, and average individuals become extraordinary due to a societal decline. The film highlights the importance of intellectual growth, critical thinking, and the consequences of neglecting education and awareness. Through its comedic lens, Idiocracy raises thought-provoking questions about society's direction and the potential consequences of neglecting knowledge and intelligence.
