Details

Mathias, a middle-aged man from New York, travels to Paris with the intention of selling the mansion his late father left him in the Marais district. However, he is shocked to discover that his father had acquired the property under a life lease, a French custom which means that he cannot sell the house as long as the current occupant, Mathilde, is alive. To make matters worse, Mathias also learns that he has to pay Mathilde a monthly pension as part of the arrangement.

Mathias, who is already in dire financial straits, is frustrated by this unexpected turn of events. As he navigates his new life in Paris, he comes to realize that Mathilde is not the typical old lady he expected. She is intelligent, feisty, and full of secrets.

As Mathias spends more time with Mathilde, he begins to uncover the truth about his father's past and the reasons behind his decision to acquire the house. This revelation leads to a complex and unexpected relationship between Mathias, Mathilde, and Mathilde's daughter, Chloe.

Through their interactions, Mathias slowly starts to find meaning and a sense of belonging in his life. My Old Lady is a heartwarming and thought-provoking film that explores themes of family, forgiveness, and the complexities of human relationships.
