In 1921 London, Florence Cathcart is a renowned skeptic and debunker of supernatural phenomena. Known for her work in exposing hoaxes and assisting law enforcement with arresting fraudsters, Florence is approached by a stranger named Robert Mallory. Mallory informs her that the headmaster of a boarding school in Rookford has requested her help. The school is located in Cumbria, and the students are being terrorized by a ghost, leading to several deaths. Mallory also reveals that there was a murder on the estate years ago.
