Turtle Beach

In the movie Turtle Beach (1992), reporter Judith Wilkes embarks on a journey to Malaysia to cover the story of the Vietnamese boat people. Leaving behind her husband and children in Sydney, Judith finds herself caught up in the complex and harrowing world of these refugees. Along the way, she becomes romantically involved with Kanan, a local man, and forms a deep friendship with Lady Minou Hobday.

Lady Minou has dedicated her life to keeping a vigil at Turtle Beach, a secret landing spot for the refugees. She holds onto the hope that her own children will one day arrive safely. Together, Minou and Judith navigate the challenges and dangers encountered by the boat people.

One fateful night, while accompanying Minou, Judith witnesses a brutal massacre carried out by the Malaysians. This horrific event propels her to expose the atrocities and horrors taking place in the internment camps at Bidong.
