Waiting... is a comedy film set in a restaurant called Shenanigan's during the dinner shift. The story revolves around the lives of the restaurant staff, including Dan, the bumbling boss, who assigns Mitch, a 22-year-old trainee, to Monty, a smooth-talker who pursues one-night stands. Meanwhile, Dean, also 22, feels unsatisfied with his life and is given the opportunity to become the assistant manager by Dan, with a midnight deadline to decide.
Throughout the shift, the other waiters, cooks, and bus boys each have their own issues and unique personalities. Bishop, the dishwasher, takes on the role of counselor to his co-workers. As the night progresses, Monty may learn some valuable lessons, Dean is faced with a life-changing decision, and Dan finds himself attracted to the hostess, who is not yet 18.
The film delves into the dynamics and struggles of working in a restaurant, with humorous situations and witty dialogue. It also explores themes of friendship, personal growth, and the reality of the service industry. Customers who are rude or difficult receive their just desserts. The film also tackles the issue of homophobia in the workplace and how it is addressed within the restaurant's environment.
Waiting... provides an entertaining and humorous look at the lives of Shenanigan's staff, offering insight into the challenges and camaraderie that exist within a restaurant setting.
